Victorian Era
Victorian era (1837 to 1901): Yellow gold engagement rings and rose gold engagement rings were popular during the Victorian era. Jewellery designers used a number of captivating and meaningful motifs: acrostic (secret) messages, serpents (a favourite of Queen Victoria) symbolising wisdom, flowers (roses or forget-me-nots for love, violets for faithfulness) and many more.
